It’s mostly in the fit and finish of the builder/assembler.
But, the geometry of the frame and fork has a lot to do with it, as does the stout construction of the frame.
These CWC Master Weld built frames are extremely tough.
So the frame provides a rigid platform for the well greased and aligned components to roll on.
Every degree of effort is directly transferred to the rear wheels forward propulsion.
The front triangle of the frame is fairly stretched out, so the cockpit is nice and roomy for a six foot sized rider.
Most Roadmasters came with a wide handlebar without a cross brace, so that also added to the comfort level.
Especially when climbing a hill out of the saddle.
No knee knockers with these bikes.
This bike rolls on new old stock, Musselman Olympic hubs, so the rolling resistance and braking performance is also new old stock.
The frame, fork, stem, handlebar were checked for alignment, and the wheels were tensioned and trued for alignment as well.
So, once all the mechanical stuff was taken care of, then it just boiled down to the quality of the components themselves.
The CWC Roadmaster was just a very well made bicycle.
So, if you take the time to service them properly, you will have a nice riding bike that should be to go for at least another 80 years or so?

Ok,
So after about 24 hours in the O/A bath, and a bit of chrome polish and some Rub n Buff, this is what I came up with.

It probably doesn’t look too bad in pictures, but in person, it has the surface of 60 grit sandpaper.
So, unfortunately, as close as this one is, it’s still no cigar.
I’m not sure what the next step is, as I really don’t want to replate it.
It’s probably not a very good candidate for rechroming anyway.
So, I’ll just hang on to it for now until something better comes along.
But, please keep me in mind, if you ever come across one of these old chrome, 37/38 CWC chainguards.
Thanks!
I’m going to leave this thread open, even though most of what I’ve been looking for, has been acquired.
I’ll always be interested in upgrading the original chrome parts for this bike.
So if you have a bike with super nice original chrome parts on it, that you would like to sell, or are thinking about parting out?
Let me know!
I’m definitely interested.
Thanks, for all the help thus far.
I really appreciate it!

I may have passed that shiny machine yesterday north of HB going fast in the other direction...was that you Marty? 😎 I love the stout, tight, unequipped look as a rider. May need a bell~(chrome rock bros?) Cool man...
