Enjoying my 37 Colson Commander
This is a really rare tankless straight-bar 1938 with original paint with chips and incredible original aluminum fenders that were issued on Heavy Service Colson made bicycles. I really wanted to robbed the rear fender, reflector chain-guard for my 39 Imperial that is on the eBay right now, but you know how it goes. Really cool bike, hardware store model with a Portland OR Heavy Service nameplate. The wheels are very nice, but the on the rear New Departure hub there is a few things missing inside so it is non-functioning. The wheels are not original to the bike but are correct for the year and brand appropriate for Colson. the original hardware model would have the same wheels but in a 120 gauge spoke. Nice original Troxel saddle. No pedals and one missing grip. I do have it's original chain but got missed in the photo shoot. 1200 shipped.

I might be willing to part this bad boy out which I hate to do, it goes against everything I beleive with an original bike.

I just don't see 1200 shipped in parted out value.
Nice bike and distinguished fenders/guard, but tankless and rackless....
I would ebay it with a reserve first, but it simply might not meet your expectations in this economy...none of my stuff is anyway.

Pedals, chain and grip would help

I see past items like that but not everyone does. Might be a good hundred bucks spent...just my 2cents

It is a tankless model and it is specififcly badged. In 1938 Colson really didint make straightbar bicycles. The fender set is sweet, I would value them at least 500 by themselves and the frame-set 300, saddle 200, wheel-set 200, chain guard 100 are defintely worth more than the rest. The 1200 is shipped meaning the is actually a $1000. So i do see the value to a 1000 plus close to 200 shipping. Thank you for your input.

Very rare bike...How many of these things survived? Those fenders are absolutely gorgeous! Somebody needs to buy this to end my temptation!

Thanks Scott and Joel. Me too! Colson, people really do not know enough about them.

Derek-
I certainly didn't know about these Colsons before I saw yours. Are there any figures available as to the number of these units produced and what years they were in production?
