This bike started out as a project. There is no original paint on this bicycle. What is seen in red-oxide primer has been sandblasted (except the tank).
Parts descriptions:
Rack: correct, (narrow 2.25” front) prewar Schwinn carrier and original braces; top is bare metal, slight pitting. No reproduction parts on the rack.
Fenders: decent shape. The rear fender needs some welding repair toward the tail end. Both fenders may need to be trimmed at the bottom edge.
Frame: great shape, ground screw hole present. No cracks or repairs.
Kick stand: Miller. sandblasted
Fork: old repair to steerer tube but rides great and can’t be seen as a complete bike (no welding or cuts to the tube, just a bend type repair)
Wheels: fore brake, high-low, is original to the bike. Wheel hoops are prewar Schwinn and period correct but are sanded to bare metal. Spokes are double-butted Torrington with long 2-side nipples. Rear hub is ND and original to the bike.
Fender ornament (bomb real and original to the bike.
Brake handle: the real deal! Prewar early style.
Lights: correct Seiss snap bezel. No lenses included. Light bracket is a reproduction.
Stem/handlebars: original to bike. Decent original plating. Handlebars are Torrington factory drilled to conceal the wiring for the speedo unit. The stem is double adjusting.
Crossbar/speedometer/Speedo cable drive: reproduction. The knuckles might be original and re-plated. The speedometer looks like a refurbished unit, it has a side slit for light bulb illumination, correct for the Autocycle. The speedo itself may need to be calibrated/adjusted to to get the odometer functioning properly, a job for someone with experience.
Tank: real, solid and complete. The tank jewels are reproduction. One tab for the jewels is broken but another is taped inside for future weld repair. I will include two sets of “Autocycle” water slide decals, very nice decals.
Saddle: real. The leather is in poor condition. It rides well as is. I glued some of the leather down to the pan in small areas to preserve what’s left.
Rear reflector: real original glass, no cracks. Original to the bike, “Schwinn” script.
Pedals: bicycle bones reproduction T10
What a dream machine! Rides smooth. This bike is ready for chrome and paint, you finish. This bike will be boxed up for shipping after purchase. I reserve the right to sell to whomever I please to.
