Riding a '38 Autocycle Deluxe
Seldom seen 1938 Schwinn Roadster bicycle as found from a recent Chicago stash...
There is some overpaint obviously but original paint my salvage / clean up some
with your stripping method. Full size fenders, not the anemic C model profile.
Locking fork but no lock mechanism and the fork had been professionally repaired
at some point rendering the lock mechanism non-funtioning. I think this could be
made to work again with some minor machining.
Drop centers are straight....were covered with thick Silver paint so I stripped them somewhat
to determine if the rims had plating underneath or were pitted. Not much chrome but
no pitting. Torrington handlebars and nice old Leather Troxel saddle. Nice Hockey stick
Autocycle/ Motorbike chrome guard that is pretty decent. Frame looks good overall....
the only issue I can find is the top fender mount arch is enlarged some, a relatively easy fix.
Old vintage tires hold air...look rideable. Rare "Footed" Excelsior badge looks pretty nice
and the decal is still visible on the down tube.
20" Tall seat mast with longer head tube... hard to find big frame Roadster.
800.00 as you see it! 725.00 without the badge.
