For your consideration, one of the Earliest Known Schwinn Paramounts. Serial A275 places it at the the very beginning of the Paramount program, in early 1938. This rare bike was hand built by Emil Wastyn for Frank Schwinn’s new Paramount program, using the highest strength Chrome-Molybdenum seamless tubing, keyhole lugs silver-soldered to retain tubing strength, and the finest components Schwinn could produce, including the finely machined high-flange “phone dial” hubs for strength and weight reduction. Incredibly light, for an all steel bike, even by today’s standards. This original paint bike retains all of the original Schwinn decals and meticulous double gold box pin stripes. Featuring the early ball-end seat stays, Schwinn’s Adjustable Racing stem, the Paramount stamped three piece crank, Brooks B17 “Narrow” saddle, and the original super light Fairbanks-Boston beechwood rims, this early Paramount is truly a work of art ! You can still see Emil’s filing marks, as he fine-tuned each lug. Frame is straight and without damage, rims are in excellent condition and spin remarkably true, and paint is 100% original with no touch ups, just lots of history ! Please check out the photos carefully, as they tell the whole story.
