Look Ma, No Hands!
I only know what I learned on here (the CABE). I was told it’s a late 1938 Shelby straight bar with a hanging tank. Its head badge says Western Flyer. Someone pointed out to me that the forks are bent back slightly but the bike still rides nice and straight down the road. The tank is not dented or rusted through anywhere, the inside is still shiny black paint. The front fender has one dent as seen in the picture. The old Davis Deluxe/Western Auto Supply tires were on it when I got it but they are falling apart so I put a couple new Walmart tires on it so I could ride it. The fender light is rusted through on the bottom. The wheels have all their spokes and most of their red paint with white pin stripes. When I serviced this bike I made the mistake of following the instructions on the one YouTube video where the guy packs the rear hub full of grease and didn’t see the comments on the CABE saying this is wrong so that should be taken back apart and serviced correctly.
My doctor tells me my bike riding days are behind me and my wife tells me I should get rid of the toys I can’t use. I’m told these are pretty rare and really have no idea of a fair price. The only thing I have to go by are the asking prices of the only 2 I’ve seen for sale that were on the CABE… I‘m not sure what they actually sold for but they both started out over $1000 so that’s where my asking price came from.
I’ve never shipped a bike before but I could give it a shot as long as the buyer pays ALL shipping costs.
