For sale is a 1938 Firestone Twin Flex that is in need of total restoration.
This bike had damage on both chain stays, the right side was split and the left had a hole worn through by a loose crank. The holes were gas welded with steel rod, lightly depressed then filled in with brass, sanded and then lead was applied and sanded away; I’ve left the repairs bare so you can see the work.
The ford tube’s threads were worn thin where the top nut was positioned; brass was applied to the threads and a die was used to chase the threads.
The down tube and seat tube had been re-brazed at some point in the bicycle’s life, the bubble gum look alike brazing was filed and sanded into a more uniform filet shape; the work isn’t perfect but much better than before.
The plating is poor on all parts, the red paint is very poor; looks like it was white with black originally.
The signal pedals are in poor condition, The left doesn’t spin, the right spins but has a bent axle.
