I believe the fender over fork models were 1941.

Nice ride. Wish the one I posted wasn’t missing all the accessories. I have yet to see it in person. It will be interesting to see if any of the OG paint can be brought back. Thanks for showing me your bike!

Might be a real good candidate for an acid bath. Depends if that is original paint or not underneath.

would you use citric acid or oxalic?

I’ve used both before on chrome. I found citric acid to work better with chrome, but have never tried using it on paint. I will have to give it a shot sometime.

Fenders on 39 for that particular style were longer in the front. 40 looks to be correct. They switched over to match the ones used already on the 39 twinbars. Phone is almost dead or I would show photos of the two.
Nice bike btw. Hope you can get it. Personally, I would be willing to go a bit more than $400. But, Elgins are my favorite. Good luck.
