Riding a '38 Autocycle Deluxe
1940 Firestone Airflyte (Huffman) Big Lit Tank
Please read this description carefully, and re-read it if necessary, and look closely at the picutures, as the bike is being sold as-is, no returns, no refunds, no exchanges, etc.
Just making sure I'm covering all the bases and the buyer understands exactly what they are buying.
Please ask questions if you have any, and ask for more pics if necessary.
Let's get the bad stuff out of the way first.
First off, tank is original steel, but has major rust issues (see pics)
One headlight lens is partially missing. (see pics)
I'm including a fiberglass reproduction tank as well as the original tank. (See pics)
All painted parts are original paint with varying degrees of rust, with the exception of the rack, which looks to have been repainted.
Some of the original paint is pretty nice, some areas are a bit rusty, and a few areas of the frame are pitted with no paint.
The chainguard has one small hole with paint loss as you can see in pics.
The right chain stay is dented, just in front of the dropout (see pic)
Small gouge in the right crank arm (see pic)
The restored Troxel saddle shown on the bike in the pics is NOT included, but the correct original Troxel Airtex saddle shown seperately is what comes with the bike. Everything else shown on the bike, as well as the correct original saddle and spare fiberglass tank, is what you will receive.
I've tried to mention all known issues with the bike. If I think of anything else I will update this post.
With all that out of the way, this is a very cool, and pretty rare bike.
I fully serviced it. I replaced the wheelset that I got with the bike, as the old wheels were shot. I added new black chain tread tires,
and I added the lit rack $$$. The Morrow rear hub has a 1940 date code.
The fork was bent at the steer tube, and I straightened it.
I've ridden it around the block and it rides great.
I would strongly prefer a local pickup on this bike due to the condition of the tank.
I could ship it in multiple boxes, and although every effort will be made to keep the tank intact during shipping, I make no guarantee that it will arrive without additional damage due to being tossed around by fedex, etc.
Please look at the pictures and ask questions if you have any. I can provide additional pics if needed.
$4300 + shipping or reasonable offer.
If shipping is necessary it will be actual cost. I only ship through bikeflights and fully insured, so a signature would be required at delivery.
It will require at least 2, possibly more boxes to ship this bike.
With full insurance and multiple boxes, plan on at least $200 to $250 to ship this bike. Obviously the actual cost will vary by your location, and only the actual shipping cost with insurance will be charged.
I'm willing to take a few payments if need be.
Cash only for local sale.
USPS money order if shipping.
Can deliver to Ann Arbor in April
