Look Ma, No Hands!
1940 Prewar Schwinn D97XE Bicycle, Maroon, original. The frame was manufactured in 1940; serial # E52531 and the fenders are 1941. Cyclelock springer fork without key #AN349, Torrington 8 pedals, Messinger Delux saddle, Eclipse J-3 rear hub with Morrow brake arm and Schwinn front hub. Goodyear- all weather tires with brand new heavy duty tubes. Tank Horn, 3rib Torpedo light and two Seiss lights working without batteries. Iver Johnson 30” wide longhorn handlebar’s, Stewart Warner Cadet Speedometer, Klaxon horn, tool bag and Miller kickstand. Front pork chop drum brake with original cable and pads. The bike was completely taken apart, cleaned and re-greased. Bike comes with additional Items; original handlebar’s and seat post. Another 1940 license besides the 1941 on the bike. It reminds me of an airplane, with the two propellers, wide bar’s, Plane/Train/Automobile Head Badge. There are two Schwinn Ad photos; 1940 and 1941. The only difference on this bike from the 1940 photo is the fenders. Main difference in the 1941 has the wings on the tank pointing downward, the fenders and the chain guard has the Schwinn logo designed in the chain guard. Selling because I have another 1940. Local pick-up in Southern Calif. Thank you!
