Riding a '38 Autocycle Deluxe
Presentable survivor with some good original paint left. First year straight bar tank, and "fender light"
locking springer has Yale key, super straight (even chromable) rare 6 hole rear carrier. 2 year only
tank with Ea bakelite button (tray is good, should work!) Small switch? for accessory taillight
added to tank, very small holes for this, some amateur touch up around horn button hole and
flip side tank screw holes. Torrington bars and 10 pedals. Front fender has some very very small
minor pin hole corrosion on the "A" side near light. Light cover looks good as does lens, but
battery tray is shot. Rear fender dart has been repainted and not a very professional job.
Some silver overspray paint on guard and miller. Also some respray maroon on rack top.
Original Mesinger saddle has tight leather hanging in there really well. Bike overall is
pretty decent but pix always make things look better....
so please keep that in mind.
I'd give this one a 7 on a prewar grading scale.
One of my favorite year Schwinns! A debut year for many features and just super clean clean lines.
Rare bicycle as well.... and priced at what common post war Phantoms in nice shape bring.
