For sale: original paint 1944/45 (wartime) Westfield Spitfire. She has been cleaned, greased and ready to ride! All the plated parts are blacked out except the crank. The siren works well! Has original bottle cap grips with red glass reflectors. The pedals are mismatched and bent a little but still work fine. The fork has a reweld on it. $300 local pickup in Waxhaw or add $100 for shipping in the US. Paypal as friend or add 3%.
Thanks, Don

Your serial # and the L 12 frame date code would indicate that your bike was manufactured in Dec., 1944. Very likely the 2nd half of the month. This would have been one of the early standard style non-tank balloon tire bikes that were manufactured for civilian use after the War Production Board (WPB) increased the wartime weight limit on civilian bicycles from 31 lbs. to 42 lbs. excluding tires and tubes in Sept., 1944.

Regards,
Bill
