Wore out three sets of tires already!

This 1946 bike came from Virginia, with the Pinnell’s Harley badge. I figure if I ever end up electrifying a bike, it should be this one.

The front drum brake is totally siezed. I’m not sure if the bolts holding it together have enough surface area to turn. The chain was pretty siezed, the rear wheel isn’t original.

This seems to be that weird moment in postwar Schwinn history when there apparently weren’t enough of some parts to go around and substitutions were made. I’ve seen several ‘46 B-607s that ended up with 9 hole racks instead of 6 hole models, (Not thrilled about that as I prefer the double leg arrangement of the 4/6 hole versions) and this also received a Wald stem rather than Schwinn, and coke bottle grips.

There’s so little chrome left that I’ve entertained doing blackout (blued) finishes on the cleaned up steel to match the rear hub that I have. But I’ll probably make that determination once I figure out how well the paint cleans up.

That is a Beauty!!! It looks a lot like my 46/47 B6 Liberty that was in a fire. I just cleaned , straightened and put new tires.
