So I bought a Schwinn canti postwar frame thinking it was 1953 like the owner said but upon closer inspection it has skinny drop outs seen on 1945-47). Has a serial number I have never seen which reads X37529. In small print under the crank tube. Any ideas?

The front chain guard mounting tab sure looks odd. And I can't see if the rear tab is there, looks to be missing.

Ok sorry for delay. 1945 46 47 has thinner dropout width. I use an adjustable wrench to a mid 50s frame and if the early frame in question has wiggle room....then it's early

Aha found one with x serial code

I've seen at least a handful of the X serials over the years and even posted asking if anyone knew what year they are associated with. All have been the thin sharp light stampings too. Same type of font as on some of the post war I and R series. The early 1945's and 46 numbers are wide hard struck stampings, so I'm starting to think these are 1947 numbers. Here's another one.
