Sold 1948 Hawthorne - $500 plus the ride

This bike is pretty nice looking but when you lokk a little closer. You can see the previous owner forgot to paint the chainguard,forks,and rack.I think the seat,handlebars and pedals are repro but still are what everyone else has used. This bike ride good and brakes. The tires are a new looking or NOS 26 x 2.125 set of Uniroyal Peerless Cord and a Hawthorne back rim an ND-W on the front.The headlight looks NOS and the guts in the tank are in new condition. I was told it is a 1948 but I have know idea as I have never seen a serial number like that.

Very nice complete project bike! Being a Snyder built Hawthorne, from what I see of the bottom bracket number appears to be a ‘49 but badge is a ‘50 or newer. Likely a 1950 model built in late ‘49.
