Finally riding a big boys bike
Hello.

I have what I believe is a 1949 D19 frame, wheels, crank, and fenders as part of an abandoned "board track racer' project.

I want to build it up into a decent rider based on a Delux Hornet.

Essentially adding springer and appropriate rack and chainguard.

Can someone tell me if it was possible to "option' out a D19 in 1949.

If so, what options might have been available? Tail light rack? Rocket Ray? Locking Springer?

Thanks for any thoughts.

I believe the D19 was fully optioned (-spring fork). The D12 was the base model-no tank, rack, etc... . The springer was optional.

I found this options list from 1951. I just can't find anything specific to '49. With that being said, maybe it will be easier to just make it up as an early 50s model.

It almost looks from this list, that at least in 1951, you could have added a locking Springer, tail light rack and a Rocket Ray to a D19. Does that seem right?

Yes-but the D19 had the "torpedo" light (what we call a Delta front loader).

As seen in the 1950 Schwinn Dealer Catalog. Schwinn did not publish a Dealer Catalog in 1949.

What makes you think it a 1949 frame? Do you have a serial number? For us to help, we need much clearer pictures
I just can't find anything specific to '49.
Schwinn did not publish a Schwinn Dealer Catalog in 1949. In fact, nobody knows for certain what the actual model number roster was for that year. Isolated specifications have been picked up from miscellaneous Schwinn announcements from late 1948 and from mid 1949 but a large portion of the 1949 model year offering is unknown.

This is the only '49 lit I've ever seen. Pretty sure this is a D-19 aka Cycleplane. Notice the headlight. I think by the time you chase all the parts to build a full boogie D-19 you would be better off finding a complete bike for sale.
