Finally riding a big boys bike
So!! This house blue 1950 Schwinn I scored ar a swap meet. I bought it originally because the OG paint underneath is green and ivory two tone. I have an original paint 55 Schwinn PIG bike that never had a fork when I got it. So after stripping the house paint it unveiled the nice OG painted fork that I swapped onto the 55…well.. now I have a frame that I need to do something with…
55 with the “new” matching green fork.
After the oven cleaner stripping of the 50’ Schwinn.. the paint was too far gone to build a nice patina rider… so custom it is.. my idea for this build was to make a higher end PIG or pre-stingray..Stingray. However I like the prewar Schwinn colors better so I decided to go with the cobalt blue and light blue two tone on a postwar scheme.
Painted S2’s with the double blue and balloon white walls. Goodyear tread.
2 speed bendix aviation hub! Still have to get the cable hooked up and new chainguard… I painted this one but it’s been difficult sourcing a guard that is repairable..
Aftermarket springer was stripped and painted. Still need to lay down the pinstripes on the fork arms, but it RIDES!
