'Lil Knee Scuffer
HI guys!

I recently picked up a 1951 3 star super Deluxe women's Columbia Built bicycle. It looks to be in great shape! As of now, I have 2 questions:

1. has anyone ever put the entire electric Delta tank horn in evaporrust?
2. the gripers on the handle bars are black and they say schwinn. Anyone know what kind of gripers were used on the handle bars of Columbia Built 1951 bicycle?

Also, when I unscrewed the torpedo fender light, it still had the directions for the light in there. I'll add some pics

Any advice is much appreciated!

Here's one I had and here is a pic of the grip.

Howdy!

I know nothing about Columbias, but I just happened to pick one up and thought I'd share.

Below photos... are these the grips that the OP needs? They seem to look very much like the "non-slip" ones shown in the ad page MrColumbia posted above.

The above shown grips came on the bike pictured below, this bike appears to be all original, but I do not know that for certain.

For bonus points, on the subject of Columbias... can anyone tell me a bit about this below pictured bike? Any copies of ads or brochure pages? On the frame it says, "Five Star Superb" and also, "American". White seat, red pedals, red / white / blue paint scheme.

I'd really love to know what year this bike is. Haven't yet found a serial # on it, but I'll admit, I haven't looked too hard yet.

Also, does anything on it appear to not be original? I am a little suspect of the headlight, based on pics of other old Columbias I've seen.

Any info greatly appreciated. Don't mean to be hijacking, but I'd like to think that whatever info gets conjured up here will be helpful to the OP.

The above pictured 5 star is no doubt a 1957 based on the scolloped trailing edge on the chain guard and the down tube decal design. Also, the red pedal blocks are correct for 57. This was the last year for this model. Middle weights would replace the balloon tire models for the most part with the exception of the Newsboy models.

Sincerely appreciated, MrColumbia.👍

I just sent you a direct email with a few more notes regarding my `57. I did not want to officially "hijack" this thread with questions / info that might not pertain to the OP's original question.

Thank you! Enjoy the weekend!
