BF2485

Finally riding a big boys bike
I just picked this up yesterday for what I would say is a good price ( $80) , but now I am confused on what I actually have. It had a front fender light at some time , but also had a tank ( it was gone already when I bought the bike). Yes it has wrong grips and wrong seat, the rear S2 wheel has a Perry hub , front S2 has a Schwinn script hub .It also has the Phantom style crank sprocket and pedals with AS on endcaps. Is any of this correct for a 1953?? Also has a bolt on kickstand. I think it's been tinkered with at some point!! Serial number is J18701. Thanks!!

Looks all legit to me. I can't see the grips but like you said, the seat is incorrect. I've seen a few that had all the same components as yours. Hit the Search Forums button on the top tool bar and check out 1953 Spitfire. There have been a few that have been posted.

Thanks! I thought it was legit, but the Perry hub was throwing me off , also the crank sprocket must be bent because I can see a shiny spot where it touched the frame a few times, will have to take it off and straighten it or space it out a bit farther .

Definitely Spitfire..Cresent shape fenders, hash marks( frame and fork stencils) are dead giveaways. And bolt on stand.
