1954 Schwinn Deluxe Hornet

Sweet! 1954 Schwinn Hornet Deluxe with rocket ray headlight, Chrome S2 wheels with cool lightning tires almost all original. Really nice old bike. Original blue metallic and light blue. hard to find color. Was taken apart cleaned up bearings serviced, reassembled. Light blue and stripes were professionally touched up and some of the decals have been replaced. The carrier has been painted because it come with wrong one on it and couldn't find an original in this color. Original handle bars will be on it when sold just set these prewar's on for pic. Located in Watkins , MN 825.00 or b/o Local pick up only.

Not by me. It has small damage to front of light. Looks period correct to me. So assume it is original. Not all of them where painted bike colors.

Must be a late 54 serial number. There were no Deluxe Hornets in 54 but there were in 1955. Dec or Nov 54 serial?

Could be can't remember looked it up once. The fork is original to the bike.

Have a different set cleaning up for it. These were on it when i got it.

Yeah but no, the light was replaced, Issued original was same color as frame.

Yet, most interesting here is that, there are no catilogs with a 54 Hornet deluxe and even more importantly the Springer to match frame. All known Deluxe Hornets have the 1955 'New Style' Springer and yet you have an Old Style on it: Pre-1955.

Your pin stripes should verify whether it's real or something mixed together B/C Deluxe were 2 colored. (In some circles, white, black and clear are not considered colors) Pin stripes would be a light shade of blue and the primary blue is Opalescent blue. It's not Metallic blue yet,, due to the layers Schwinn put on them, it's metallic looking. However, It's 1950's 'Candy' painted Opal blue.. . Other than the obvious difference on your rack, They look correct in your photos but, can you do better?

The first model issued, {not 'Thee" 1st bike} The first run of the newly designed Deluxe Hornet? You may find the serial numbers dating mid summer of 1954 too December 54.

Can U post a good clear photo of chain guard, tank and side view of the head post area that U can see all of secondary colors? Is frame white and blue or light blue and blue?

Cheap fix ....Take a small screw driver and pop them out ....then loosen the bolts and turn the rubber blocks 180 degrees . Gets rid of that look quickly at no cost .
