1955 schwinn corvette question

i thought all corvettes had stainless fenders , these look pretty painted to me , this was found in a garage that the gal said she bought new .

You're correct, the Corvettes came with stainless fenders. That bike also has pedals that were not used on the Corvettes. Looks like the chainguard, grips, and seat were changed out at some point.
