Wore out three sets of tires already!
It’s my first middleweight bicycle in 25 years. I’ve been sucked in by the idea of stainless steel fenders and gears. This thing is pretty nice, the brakes are like rocks and I think it needs a good greasing. The one thing I really don’t care for are the bars. I’m serotonin about using a normal set of heavyweight bars for comfort, which would probably require re-cabling the bike. I bought a nice example so I wouldn’t have a project…🙄

Wow, that's an extremally nice piece! If you plan on riding it, I would put that seat on the shelf and only use it when displaying the bike. Cool Stop makes a good replacement brake pad for those Weinmann calipers. Unless you go hog wild on some different bars, I doubt you'll have to recable. Sunlite has some Northroad bars that have more pullback, but the spread is pretty much the same. Steerhorn bars might even work with the existing cables.

Replacing the seat because it’s delicate, or because it’s uncomfortable?

As old as that seat is, I can see it falling apart at the stitches just cleaning it. Not many of those lasted when fairly new and were actually used. I had one on my bike as a kid and after two years it started to fall apart.

Sweet ride, love the radiant green. That is a very nice looking machine you have there. You asked if GTs suggested was due to rarity or comfort, to which I was say both 😉.

I don't care for the low rise that came on the Jaguar bars. I much prefer the higher rise of the ones on the late 60s Typhoons/Panthers etc.
