I would guess that's a 1963 that was Flamboyant Red. I believe Schwinn was experimenting with a new paint product and paint procedure that year but I've been told I'm nuts.

I'd love to know if that Typhoon has any traces of the red oxide primer.

It doesn't appear to have any primer underneath the grey, although it's hard to tell because of the surface rust.

Flamboyant red sounds right.

It looks similar to the color on my 1962 Tiger though!

1962 models had the Radiant colors. Radiant Red and Flamboyant were real close but the Flamboyant Red looks like a thinned out Radiant. Possible color change or less paint/coats used with the new Flamboyant colors.
