On Training Wheels
Hello Everybody! I have a 1961 Schwinn Panther III for sale. All in all the bike is very complete minus one headlight lens and rear reflector lens. The seat, grips, pedals and even front tire are original Schwinn approved items. I am told the dual headlights are VERY rare and can also be rebuilt. It also has a Bendix Automatic rear hub with 3 red stripes (3 speed I'm guessing HELP would be appreciated) but it is missing the axle stud on the left side and the pedals just spin... I know very little about these hubs But I'm guessing a rebuild is in order there too. The over all condition is pretty decent. 2 small dents in the right side of tank from fork supports hitting, a few scratches and chips. but nothing major. I ran the date code and it says it was built on March 9th 1961.

It should clean up very nicely, and would make a great rider! Note, it is still dirty. I left all the barn dust possible on it for your enjoyment! $750 obo

Shoot me offers too, may entertain partial or full trades on interesting items like mini steam engines, music makers, autonoma

I am located in Cincinnati Ohio. I am able to crate and ship for the right money. Thanks for looking!

just a thought, but i think the rear 2 speed hub needs a tad more than a simple rebuild.looks like the axle is snapped off.

Look Ma, No Hands!
Don't want to be contrary or a know it all but the correct seat would not have a crash rail or beehive springs. It has the same cover but no crash rail and the simpler standard spring arrangement. That said, if a customer back in the day wanted the nicer seat on his bike, any Schwinn dealer would happily upgrade a bike...

Bought this bike today for a fair price, have it completely tore down right now for a good clean and lube, putting a coaster on it for now.
