1965 Schwinn model #J39 Deluxe Sting-Ray in Radiant Coppertone - serial #MA14086 - I am no Schwinn purist/expert, but here is what I see. The bike has been re-painted. When I picked this bike up, there was an original paint Coppertone girls bike next to it, and the colors were a spot on match. The paint is perfect, with only 1 blemish on the front left fork blade, see photo, whoever painted this bike knew what they were doing, the screens are placed properly and look very good as well. The bars might be the correct style, or might not, it depends on which ’65 catalog or ad you are looking at. Tires are not correct, and I think the front might be stamped “second”. The front rim is stamped S-7, and rear is S-2, chrome is good. Pedals are good; fenders are nice and sharp; Persons smooth top saddle is good, it is stamped and has two stickers underneath; AS bolt on seat post clamp: not sure about the stem: original sissy bars. Throw on some white grips, not Coppertone, and you have a new wheelie bike. I would keep it, but I picked up two at the same time, and I need to sell this one to pay for the Wheelie Bar I want to put on the one I kept.
