Look Ma, No Hands!
Purchased this bike from a friend that works at a bike shop here locally he said the original owner came in asking if they buy old Schwinns, he asked the boss if he could buy it and he did personally.

As you can see this bike was extremely well taken care of. Just a wipe with soap and water richened up that brilliant flamboyant red.

These are all just showing condition before cleaning, all the chrome was lightly hazed from dirt and the slightest start of some oxidation.

This previous owner took lubing the chain to an extreme if you can tell by the grease on the mag and a few pics later you’ll really see why…

This shifter goes in my record book for the cleanest internals I’ve ever come across on an original stick shift bike.

…And The paint is absolutely the cleanest red Schwinns I’ve ever gotten ahold of especially after removing the head badge and there being no change from fading over the years.
IMG_1451.jpeg

More collateral lube/dirt stuck to the bike from an extreme amount of greasing/lube on the chain.

Here’s where things start getting nasty but it preserved the bike…
IMG_1453.jpeg

Needless to say this took the longest time to clean on the whole bike.

IMG_1455.jpeg

Seat was in amazing shape, of course the Mylar foil wasn’t all there like usual.
IMG_1456.jpeg

You could eat off the bottom pan…
IMG_1457.jpeg

Rear tag still dark no evidence of damage.
IMG_1458.jpeg

All the dated parts were correct

Frame came out lookin like a gem! Just a little wipe with some meguires No.7 and she’s damn near NOS.

The men that crafted these bikes knew what they were doing and these are a testament to good ol American quality products which we know are few and far between now days.

AWESOME condition. You should move the double cable clamp up close to the overload tube to be 100% correct & work properly.
