1971 Schwinn Paramount P15 Touring model
This bike was purchased new by my late Father in-law at Bob's Cycle in Fair Oaks CA, used very rarely, and put into storage in the late 1990's. I have the original manual showing where and when it was bought, as well as the Paramount tool kit containing various Campagnolo wrenches and tools. Some tools may be missing. The bike is in original condition except where I have replaced a few things as mentioned below.
I acquired the bike two years ago, and completely disassembled the bike for a thorough cleaning and inspection. What I found was dried up original grease, with all bearings, races, hubs, chain, and mechanical parts showing little to no visible wear. I replaced the handlebar tape, cable housings, tubes and tires. That's it. I thoroughly cleaned and repacked bearings (hubs, bottom bracket, headset, pedals) using Phil Wood grease. He obviously took very good care of it in the 30 years he used it. The frame has some paint chips and some scratches, but no dents or bad dings. Stickers are all intact and in excellent condition. The chrome on one seat stay and the lug at the top of the fork on one side is a bit dull, like it was rubbed with steel wool or something. Overall, the paint is lustrous and the bike has (I think) a beautiful patina to it. It rides like it looks- smooth and sweet.
The bike has a Campagnolo front triple chainring, Regina Oro 5 sp. cassette, Campagnolo Superleggera pedals, Christophe cages (no leather straps, they rotted away), Brooks Professional saddle, Cinelli stem and handlebars, Mavic rims, Armadillo tires, wide flange Campagnolo hubs, Campagnolo front derailler, Campagnolo Gran Turismo rear derailler, Weinmann center-pull brakes, Schwinn approved brake levers, and Silca pump (needs new seals).
As you all know, this is a very high quality bike. I want it to go to a good home, given that it came from my late Father in law, a man whom I respect and was a role model for me.
Measurements are 24 inches from top tube to center of bottom bracket. I can get more if someone is interested.
To ride it it needs new brake pads, they are really old and hard as a rock! I bought some but they were the wrong ones then I got lazy and did not fix them.
Price: $1,200.00
