Wore out three sets of tires already!
For sale is an excellent condition, one owner, 1978 Schwinn Le Tour 12.2 10 speed chrome moly lugged frame road bike in the rare and collectible chrome finish. They only offered chrome (for an extra $50) on this bike 3 years, '76-'78. Bike measures 20 3/4" center to center on the seat post, so it's the 21" model or SL1 from the catalog. Serial number is 8C12157, stamped on the bottom bracket which means it was built March (C) 1978 (8) and was number 12157 built that year. Correct Schwinn Approved round head badge, Le Tour, Schwinn, and Double Butted 4130 tubing decals. Also the original bike shop decal remains.

It appears to have all original equipment including the Schwinn Approved Takagi 170 mm double crankset, Shimano 600 rear derailleur and 60 front, correct down tube shifters, Diacomp G side pull brake calipers and correct levers, large flange Shimano hubs laced to correct Araya 27" rims, correct pedals, seat post, stem and handle bars. Only non factory item is the nice new MTB road bike saddle I added for much more comfort and modern look.

Had a tune up recently at LBS including all new cables, chain, cassette, tubes and tires (receipt included) and no miles ridden since that was performed. I just replaced the brake lever hoods with genuine NOS Dia Compe gum hoods and re-taped the bars with the original tape. I have polished the bike from top to bottom and it's perfectly dialed in now and ready to ride or hang on your wall and admire.

Chrome is in overall excellent condition, some scratches and minor blemishes - would rate this one a 9 of 10 as an original unrestored bike. This was purchased for the wife of an avid cyclist and she only rode it occasionally.

Email with any questions or to arrange pick up. Rare chrome bike in great shape needing nothing but a new owner. Buy it for less than half the price of a chrome Paramount. I will ship this bike at buyers expense including $50 pro bike shop packing and actual cost of shipping with Bike Flights - should be $50-$100 max fully insured.

Thanks for the interest! Let me know if you'd like additional photos, can send. Feel free to make me a reasonable offer.
