Withdrawn 1980 Schwinn Men's World Tourist

CABE members have helped determine this is probably a 1980. On the headbadge is the number 3989. On the right driveside read dropout is the number G1279. On the rear of the chainguard is a clear number 91. On the left side dropout, upside down is 349373. So, frame is 1979, bike assembled in early 1980.

Original, really nice condition, everything lubricated and works as it should, no chain skipping, rides well with torque in all gears. Saddle excellent, tires look like they have very few miles. Some rust in a section on front rim and fender stays, otherwise chrome is excellent. Paint is beautiful. All decals in nice shape. Has a sticker next to the serial number saying it is made by Giant. Lugged frame, it's a bit lighter than you would expect. Pickup only with cash from North Babylon, Long Island NY.

The build date is on the sticker that's on the left rear dropout, and it should also be stamped in the head badge. The sticker is upside down, last digit is 9. 1989?

I looked closer at the bike. On the headbadge is the number 3989. On the right driveside read dropout is the number G1279. On the rear of the chainguard is a clear number 91. On the left side dropout, upside down is 349373. So... what year is this? Made in Taiwan for Schwinn by Giant. I will put this info in the heading info.

Weird head badge date. I've only seen two of these and @AS-1 has a one of them. I wonder if Giant has implemented some weird build calendar. There are 365 days in the year.

So the build date is 0330. Feb. 2nd 1980..... WAG! I have to laugh, but that's possible thinking about that with my eyes squinted.
