I think the relationship between Schwinn and the french co. Malliard (Atom) was pretty long-standing.

When did schwinn stop making USA bicycles

The last USA "Cruiser" was made in the 1984 model year. After that, all production was done in Taiwan.

Looks like the one in the pic only has 4 gears

The only 4 speed Cruiser I have seen was internal geared.

Let’s not forget all the Hungarian Schwinns that were built in the late 80s Early 90s Until they filed for bankruptcy

That question has many answers....the original Chicago plant closed in 1983......you should Google Schwinn for a better explanation
