On Training Wheels
One of GT's first mountain bikes, this was their flagship in 1988 (hand built in 1987 by TOYO in Japan). retailed for $2600. Features all white custom components by Suntour, white GT Power Series cranks. This one's got all original seat, tires, wheels, components, brake pads, "GT A'me" grips, everything. And this Cat Eye computer has been on it since it was new it looks like so I'm going to leave it there. It has some scuffs and rock chips but it clearly hasn't been ridden in 30 years. It's still tuned and rides like a dream. Which is the only reason I haven't taken it apart to clean it, I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to get it back together as nice.

Found at a thrift store last year for $30 on half off day-- $15. How it got there I can't imagine... Some old guy had it in his garage for the past 30 years until he died, then his kids didn't want this 80's looking mountain bike so they donated it lol....

Cool piece. But really, $2600 retail in 88? Was that a high cost low volume situation verses a low cost high volume deal? ;)

Welcome to the Cabe! Great place where you live for riding one of these.

I heard of people getting these for $800 same year because no one bought them, exactly.. just a GT statement piece!

Thank you very much!

Cool bike! I love the Avalanche, Tequesta and Timberline models 89-93 for their splatter paint jobs. Heavy bikes but sure ride good.

The OEM Price was about $600 back in the day I think. I might be missing something. Nice find! I would have also brought it home.

I have not found a bike in a long time, and would have jumped all over this one.
