New Mexico Brant

Riding a '38 Autocycle Deluxe
So this what I told when I bought this hardly ridden bicycle: "this bike was bought by a rich Kansas state farmer, who owned thousands of acres, on his doctor's advice after suffering a heart attack. The guy rode it on his flat-ass roads around his corn fields for a few months in attempts to get healthy. One morning he rode up to one of his crew of men attempting to replace an auger drive on a huge JD combine harvester. The Univega was lying on the ground next to the John Deere and a heavy part fell off and cut through the spokes!" Amazingly it missing the rim or anything else important on the bike. The farmer tried to have the bike shop fix it under warranty as it was a practically new bike (he argued he paid over $2,000 it plus all the kit and it should be fixed for free). The shop refused due to the circumstances; the furious farmer placed in a barn never to be ridden again.

Anyway it is in stellar condition with storage wear mostly, some decal scratches, the front wheel spoke issue, front wheel still spins true with only a very minor deviance that should correct with replaced missing spokes. Light rust on chain, spokes, and chrome wheel releases.

Would look amazing with an executive detailing and servicing! The frame is flawless, not a scratch on the bottom bracket, just a tad little spot of chain slap at one area. As stated, some decal wear and scratches, scratched on out edges of Concept side grips. 18" frame. No pedals. $625 plus shipping, or can be picked-up in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

How well does that fork work?
Honest Kenny I have never tried out the bike in fear the front wheel will taco with that group of missing spokes. If it doesn’t sell I will fix it and give it a go. B

Here is a comment a fellow made on the bike's post on FB: "AMP research forks are cool, designed by Horst Leitner, inventor of the Horst link in rear suspension design. Considered an evolutionary leap in mtb rear suspension design. They have to be worth £250 alone! Nice find."

Such a clean bike and pricey the year it came out. This model was a flop for Univega as they were pushing into a higher price point but it just did not work out for them. Very light and beautifully constructed.
