Wore out three sets of tires already!
A recent post on one of the Old Bike Facebook pages brought to my attention that there are 2 lists of Monark Serial numbers out there, and they seem to be totally different. The first one, and the one I have been using for a while because it also includes prewar numbers is from a Cabe members post from 2015 shown below. The second one I believe is from a Western Flyer service manual or something like that and only has the post war #s. Are there others? Which is everyone using, and interested to know thoughts on which is correct???

I double checked this info . If anyone can add anything or finds an error please amend :)

Also ,be aware if you are adding or replacing a springer fork that the forks are deeper on the post war bikes that are equipped with deep fenders. Also the two threaded rods that the springs set on may be longer then the pre-war and early post war.

The first list is from Newsletter By John, the late, great bike historian. It's a good general guide, but even he said "don't bet the farm on these #'s"! The second list is from a 1959 Western Auto parts catalog. It specifically relates to Western Flyers, which are sometimes numbered differently than for other companies. I'd say neither is 100%, but you can usually guesstimate by the features on the bike.
