Riding my '38 Deluxe Bluebird
Have run into quite a few project bikes/frames/parts lately- you guys helped identify this first one as a 1939 (1 year only) Schwinn DX,
we saved it from becoming yet another year's Halloween porch decoration from some good folks up nort'
#1- '39 DX ~ Frame decent except has separation on one weld on seat stay (see pic), shouldn't be too difficult to fix; bars are really, really so bent won't include them, also won't include the wheels as we just stuck them on for pic and are not correct; has crusty/rusty adjuster screws & crank and chainring, fenders look pretty decent, duck front, rear has clip; drop stand; no headbadge. This is the way we got it, so can't guarantee everything is correct...I do have a prewar truss rod fork that would go with this (sorry no rods), if you buy frame and want it I would sell it to you for an extra $40 total (steer tube is slightly off straight). $235 + shipping (with extra fork $275 + shipping). **SOLD**
#2- '36? Prewar frame, this one looks early, s/n is U07676, crank is marked AS 36. Way too many layers of crusty paint on this one....frame has had repair/brazing to the seat post and that should be smoothed out, and seat stay needs repair, and has one area where there is a scuff/indent (see pics). Has crusty adjuster screws still, crank and chainring rusty/crusty but seem straight, has top and bottom head tube cups.
$100 + shipping.**SOLD**
If no interest here will go to ebay, ok to make offer too. USPS M.O. OK or PP with no fees as Friends, or add 3% if Goods. Please let us know if you can't pay right away. Send zip code for price on shipping, send email if you want more pics.
Thx!
