I spent the day hustling trying to squeeze this trip in between my son's daycare hours just in time to figure out dinner!
@cyclingday sent me over some good literature to read through tonight and hopefully start the process of pinning it down.

I'll start a proper thread in the proper place tomorrow, this bike was in a flood some years ago which left quite a bit of dried mud to contend with but it will clean up well I think.

Very nice find, I like the head badge & how the frame it's attached to seat by 2 bolt! And no rear fork adjusters? Maybe could very early style frame! GLW whit the refurbishment process!

My best guess is, 1896 model no. 1

The spoon type front brake is definitely a mystery.
That type of brake, is a hold over from the high wheel era, and most associated with the hard tire safety.

You never cease to amaze.
