Wore out three sets of tires already!
28" crusty Mead Ranger for sale $750 as pictured.
Found locally, literally rotting into the ground. See attached pictures of original rims.
Has some remnants of a blue repaint in the past, tank not original to the bike.
Installed replacement metal clad rims that have been modified to accept modern tires.

Out of curiosity, is this a safe way to modify and reuse these rims? I have a similar bike I am redoing and would love to reuse the rims but I do want to ride it a decent amount. If it is safe, how was the wood evenly removed around the rim? Any info is appreciated. Also, what size are the tires? They look awesome. Thanks

Looks like a table mounted router was used. @bikewhorder I believe did this in the past with good results. The metal on a steel-clad is pretty tough so I don't think you'll have a problem with durability if the wood core is in good solid shape.
