I live for the CABE
Here’s my 1936 girls Colson (Now dubbed,”Chuck”) that I added a TRM convertible tank and light kit to. Jim Harrison makes a top drawer product-if you’re thinking about getting one, you won’t be sorry.

I first tore it down, cleaning and lubing. Added some brown Fat Frank whitewalls, and from parts box a white seat w/crash rail, boys bars stem and pedals.

Gremlins in the coaster brake so will have to wait for a road test.

Hey Jim-
Did you finish your bike off with boiled linseed oil? Debating on whether or not to give one of my crusty riders this look.

I did use 0000 steel wool and boiled linseed oil on the original finish. I originally did it a couple of months ago and the shine has mellowed out to a nice satin finish. It was challenging to fit, paint and finish the tank, but I painted it w/ “Brown Leather” satin Rustoleum rattle can, and misted additional layers is satin black and the Brown Leather satin to match the patina. The tank is a little too glossy for the rest of the bike, so need to work on that.

I think it came out great Jim! Now if you could just get Jerry Turner to fab you up a Colson badge in the style of an applecore to sit between those lights you'd be killing it. V/r Shawn

Thanks, Shawn. I’m already on it. I cut down a Colson chain guard decal and am shaping an aluminum disc to put the decal on. It’s kind of a complicated compound curve to shape the aluminum disc to, but it’s coming around. I’ll paint the disc satin black before putting the decal on and use some type of adhesive to attach it.
I also found a brass Elyria OH bike tag (Colsons were made in Elyria) which will be added soon
