Almost forgot one of the most important parts! Jim Harrison, creator of the TRM tank is also a great graphic designer and included a real cool retro TRM sticker. Wasn’t sure how to get it on the bike, but ended up making a metal tag for it and hang it under the seat.
I normally hate rust, but with the oiled appearance, it looks awesome! I also like how the tank works with the single tube on this one.
For the badge, double sided automotive trim tape works well. The only thing is it has some thickness to it, so the badge will be slightly above the tank. Upside to that is that you don't have to get the metal perfectly formed to the tank.
And, yeah, the TRM tanks are . . . tanks—thick material.
An update to the head badge. Scrapped the aluminum and decal design. I found a cloth Colson patch that I sprayed 10 coats of matte clear lacquer to make it stiffer and cover up the cloth surface. Two screws and it’s done!
