I live for the CABE
Looking for some help here. An esteemed member challenged my labeling of this fender as Gothic Schwinn Fender.

The reasons why I labeled it as a Schwinn:
  • it came from a collector who was meticulous with his labeling and identification and it was in a box labeled Schwinn gothic fender
  • all research I found showed no dovetailed, flat braced fenders, with no dropstand clip holes except Schwinn
  • paint scheme matched Schwinn and not Roadmaster, Elgin, Colson, or Columbia
  • it had a prewar Schwinn script reflector attached and the underside of the fender was covered in mud and debris
  • there are no rear fender indentations where it attaches to the upper rear stay

His reasoning for challenging it and he provided photo evidence:
  • wrong fender brace (Schwinn flat brace has a half circle attaching the arms)
  • possible wrong rivet location
  • wrong paint scheme

BUT, I do not want to misrepresent any item that I’m offering for sale. So, I’m heading here and tagging in some Schwinn folks for some help. I would really appreciate any assistance anyone could offer.

The braces look like Westfield to me?
So, I’m thinking Westfield?

I thought the same thing after the other member reached out to me, but the gothic Westfield fenders I found have indentations for the upper rear fender stays. The ones I have listed do not have the indentations.
Do you happen to know if all Westfields came with the indentations?

I’d like to keep trying to identify this if possible, hopefully it will help other members in the future with their discovery. But, I believe there’s enough evidence to pull down the DOND posting.
Thank you for this help so far, I sincerely appreciate it.
