5 Speed Chain Lengths

Seems like every 5 speed Schwinn that I've owned from the 60's to 70's has it's chain too short. I assume it is to keep the tension high on the rear derailer as to not fall off the front chain ring. I always add a link or 2 and have never had an issue

All my Corvette 5's and 10 speeds have 112 links = 56" and my 62 Continental that's set up like the Super Continental 15 speed and no models later than 1966. . All short cage Huret Allvits and no problems.
So how long are your chains?

For instance, When I picked up this 65 Collegiate, the chain length was first thing I noticed

Looks like the derailleur is right at it's limit, but it should be ok.
