Riding a '38 Autocycle Deluxe
Pretty honest representative of a text book 50' Green Panther. Super solid... Super Tight.. no rattles..no squeaks..
Orig paint on all except rear fender braces cad spray paint? ... Rocket Ray guts are like new, bezel
has most chrome loss on visor... Correct light with chrome 1/2 trim. S-2's rims look like new, chrome
is unreal, but a few ...minor curb dings..do not even detract from overall appearance. Small chunk of vinyl
out of the Troxel seat. Rack has one brace area split / crack where they all do, but paint is decent and
rack is fairly straight. I'll toss in another Green Rack..straight , no crack...but worse paint as a spare.
Typhoon tires look good, grips are super nice... Torrington 10 pedals on board... Should be Bottle cap
Schwinn approved ones.. Might have a pair I can swap out if prefered but have to look and see if I do.
Never pulled the tank so not sure if horn works... button looks clean. Fenders have some peppering..
but still shiny... Correct reflectors on rack and rear fender. That's it!
It's a 1950 Schwinn Green Panther and they are rapidly becoming extinct as 'fresh finds'...as all this stuff is.
And grossly undervalued in my opinion.
1100.00
plus the ride.

Hello,
Lovely Panther. But that saddle is absolutely, positively NOT a Troxel. No way, no how. Panthers did not use Troxels– they were equipped from the Schwinn factory with Mesinger saddles. And no Troxel ever came with a spring yoke BOLTED on to what is obviously a Mesinger chassis and Mesinger nose coil. Furthermore, no Troxel from the late 1930s-ON ever came with a riveted-on, round nose coil. This just did not happen. Postwar Troxel saddles had OVAL slip-on nose coils.

So, the saddle on this beautiful Panther appears to be a home-built hybrid of a Mesinger mooshed together with a Troxel spring yoke. Another reason why the acorn springs appear to be leaning like a Faulhaber!

Again, a beautiful Panther at a great price. I have an original in Maroon and Red. Good luck with the sale.
