Haven't found any info on this KHS, has SS on the badge and Heavy Duty on the fork, seems like It's comparable to Schwinn Sidewinder single speed, beach cruiser/mtbike?, I added the seat but seat post, clamp & MX brakes still have a little faded gold analogizing so not sure if somebody robbed gold rims?, has HD rims, Suntour coaster & front has a crown with a K K & 1 82 so could be period, sprocket says KEIHIN JAPAN, been searching old KHS ads and vintage BMX & Mt bike sites but nothing yet.

Sure has a 1981-83 vibe doesn't it? What are those rims? Araya steel? Front hub is weird looking, and narrow. Maybe 91mm(?) like an old American bike? Odd because I think most Japanese BMX front hubs were a bit wider at that time. If so, that would mean the tubular forks would have to be made extra narrow. Huffy did that, but they were still in the US and using 91mm hubs. It seems there would be zero incentive for a Japanese maker to do that. Is the front axle 5/16(8mm) or is it oversize?

Keihin is best known for making carburetors for Honda cars and motorcycles. Good luck on your search for information.

I had a “Norco” bike just like that which I bought in the early eighties, (Norco is a Canadian brand founded in the sixties.) It was equipped with that brake set, a similar crank set and similar bars with a big stupid clamp just like that holding them on. Norco also distributed Nishiki in Canada. Nishiki was made by Kawamura cycles of Japan in those days, they produce bicycles under several labels. Perhaps there’s a relationship there.

Started cleaning the rims and found the CMC stamp, If I ever decide to run a guard it's the same as early post Chicago Schwinn ( 85? ) with a different rear mount, still looking for a catalog pic/specs to see if the hand brakes were a option on a coaster?
