Schwinny

I live for the CABE
This was donated to the co-op two years ago. It was in terrible condition. Corroded, dirty and crunchy from one end to the other. Originally it was outfitted with a COMPLETE Campagnolo super record group, rims and all.
Only a few of the parts were sellable, as folks that do super record won't put up with corrosion or scuffs.
Dibs was immediately called by a shop employee, it was hung in back and there it stayed.
It changed potential owners through the hierarchy of the 2nd and 3rd dibs procedure but after almost a year, was disassembled and readied for scrap. It was deemed "dangerous" being an unknown quantity of so many different materials, all bonded together and corroded.
Pffft. Buncha speculation and conjecture. I dropped a Jackson on the frame and got it out of there.

After another year and a half... It lives again.
About 3/4 of the parts are from the bins in the co-op and since there was no way to actually restore it, I made it mine.

This is my newest bike and I'm drawing the line right here. It bothers me a smidge it is 32yo and can be pigeon holed as classic or vintage.
Custom and bad-ass are pigeon holes i don't mind so much though... 😄

Finer points...
Titanium triangle, Reynolds 753 stays, Carbon fork and bars.
Just under 19 pounds.
Now a single ring, thumb shifted 10 speed
105 Hubs and hollowtech BB, Dura-Ace all else that matters.
My old steel bikes and this have very little in common, they ride completely different.

no, its a road bike some goof converted to an upright commuter... great bike. wrong bars & stem. IMO only of course..

^ Agreed A lightweight bike at speed requires driver laying low with drop bars/ tucking in against the wind. Too fast for me, these days, I'm afraid.

So all the derelict homeless and tweakers roaming the city streets on their "BMX" bikes, all the 50 yo men with their cargo shorts and hats on backwards pretending to be young.... Those are appropriate uses for a BMX bike?

A bike is whatever the owner wants or needs it to be. In my case, only having one usable arm means all my bikes are fitted for upright goof riding.

Allright. Build on. I'm over the hill too. Ride old ones, if I'm building em. Keep ATB just in case. Lost interest in the 700c 110 psi combos cuz too dangerous - was for me at least.

Cool! We could start a thread for “unacceptably” modified old race bikes reworked to make them fun and useful again.

My old back dictates a fairly upright riding position, so most of my stuff has been similarly reworked. If it makes you happy and keeps it on the road it good!
