John D. Williams

Finally riding a big boys bike
I had a Rollfast Skoot, around 1968-70, that was different than any reference to them I have seen. It was black, boy's frame, white banana seat, knobby tires, no fenders, and the front handlebar had extensions that went to the front axle. In other words, it was built a bit like a BMX bike. My brother Bob was given another one, same year, that was coppertone, and more like a Stingray. Anyone know about mine? Thanks, John

Not much info at all for the later Rollfasts. Bar extensions sound like "parade bars", somewhat popular back in the day.

Hey, not sure if this is still active, but a bit of info for Rollfast specialists. I had last posted here about owning an early BMX Rollfast, and did not get much info. Well, today, I was browsing info looking for whatever I could find on a WW2 era Rollfast, and came across this catalog. The Skat 20 they show had the handlebars I was talking about, and the Skoot 333 had the same basic seat, with the rivets showing. Mine was black, no fenders, knobby tires. I wonder if Rollfast shipped it like that, or the bike shop made a custom? This might have been 1968ish; I was 12.

And if you type in Rollfast Skat to Google, there is an orange one with the same bars and seat.

Neat, never seen one before! My neighbor growing up had a green Skoot that was his Dad's. I was jealous of the ww tires, which were tough to find in the late '70s east coast!

Yes, there was a woman who posted about this, when I asked a couple of years ago. She sent me some pictures of Mossbergs but they were not these handlebars. I wanted to show her on one of the BMX forums but I cannot find the link now!
