I am asking for advice on the best way to sell these bikes. They were donated to Crossroads, an emergency shelter for homeless youth in Wichita, Kansas, to sell to support our bike repair mentoring program. My plan is to auction them on ebay, local pickup only, and take whatever I can get. Is there a better way?

I do not know vintage bikes. Do any of these have much value? If we rebuild them and put on new tires would they be worth enough more to justify the work and cost? I do know how to box and ship bikes but wonder if it's worth the effort.

All advice is welcome! Thanks very much for any help you can give me.

Firestone women's blue special cruiser. Tires are cracked and may need to be replaced. Under bottom bracket the best I can read is 9A80 2237135. There is quite a bit of rust.

Red Western flyer men's bike. Seat is in bad shape, needs to be replaced. Some rust, mainly on wheels. The numbers on the dropout are either 97300t1 or 1-00326, but the "-" looks like an upside down T.

1978 Flying O Express red men's bike. Some rust, mainly on handlebars and wheels. Completely rebuilt a few years ago. Ready to ride. Seat and tires are not original.

Sounds like a great worthwhile project! Unfortunately though, those bikes dont have much collector value. I think if you put money in them, you would have a hard time getting it back out. I would recommend selling "as is" and hope for the best. Good luck!

If I were selling them, I would post them as is on Craigslist and FB Marketplace, and price them at $75, $50 and $50 and they should sell. I would also put the name of the organization and what they do in the ads, showing that it's for a good cause may help them sell faster and for more than you might otherwise get.
If someone wanted to negotiate I'd maybe take $10 off those prices. Your market and results may vary.
