Vintage racing

On Training Wheels
Hello , I have an all original never restored 1897 Fowler racer for sale. I am the second owner. Purchased new by the original owner for racing. He also brought a Fowler womens bicycle for his wife. As per the grandchildren the bike was used for racing for a few years then retired to the attic for next 120 plus years . 22 inch frame 28 inch wheels 6.5 inch cranks . The nickel plating is in very good condition as well as the Saget seat . Bristol bell from 1898 rings clear.
If interested and would like to see it in person for up close inspection please call 516-343-7367 thank you

Yes , this is the same bike. It was difficult to tell the condition from the photos when I purchased it . My plan was to ride it . When I received the bike I realized that everything was covered in a 1/16 layer of hardened oil and dirt from all the years in an attic. The auctioneer couldn’t believe one item sat for so many years untouched. I owned at least 30 prewar race bikes and high wheels and never seen or owned one in this type of museum quality original condition. I think it is way too nice to ride and should be in a museum or collection.
thanks , Jerry
