Hi, I introduced myself a couple of weeks ago with a request for help ID’ing an old men’s bicycle. Everyone’s help was most appreciated! I’ve now pulled an older women’s bike from storage, and am again asking for help from the Cabe. I’m guessing the bones of this bike represent something from the turn of the century. It’s wearing 26” steel wheels. The only identifying lettering is “Crescent Wheel Works” on the stem nut, and the serial number 96173 and the letter “N” on the bottom bracket. The steering head measures 8 3/4”. Frame tubes are 3/4” and 7/8”. There’s no evidence of a head badge (at least no holes).

I’m attaching photos and would appreciate member’s input. Thanks

Here is a Crescent ad from June 22, 1894 issue of The Referee and Cycle Trade Journal. Frame looks similar to yours, a lot of the other parts look newer. Also search on CABE for 1894-95 Crescents to compare details of yours with others shown. I found a reference to this model being available with 28", 26" and 24" wheels.

Thanks Blue Streak! I’ve searched the internet and your catalog listing is the closest thing I’ve seen to what I have. I really appreciate your input!
