Anyone in the U.S doing saddle / seat recovering?

-

Schwinny

I live for the CABE
I'm thinking about getting an old Lycette saddle for a restoration of mine but its old and in need of some help. Its the early cloth lined vinyl type from the 40's/50's and has a nameplate on the back and brass breather ferrules down the middle of the sitting surface.
I'd like it recovered, but at least the back panel replaced / fixed.
Does anybody on the CABE do this or does anyone know of a bicycle saddle specialist.
I need a quote before I buy it. Its not cheap and I dont want to be stuck with a ratty saddle or a questionable result.
Thanks!

Look him on here and you can see some of his amazing work. I will be taking three to him hopefully next week.

You might want to post a pic of what you are trying to get restored. A couple other guys are @STRADALITE and @rustjunkie V/r Shawn

Good Idea.
It is a Lycette "Aero One" from the 40's-50's. Perhaps a little earlier. It is the kind that came on my old 30's Armstrong and since they are both the only ones around to be seen in the US, I'd like to think of them as belonging together, or even that they were separated long ago and now back together. It isn't in bad condition, and is fairly solid as-is But the rest of the covering is of the same age and delicacy as the back panel and won't last more than a few rides without pulling apart at the seams Im sure. Maybe it would do with a reinforcement layer under the seating surface, new piping and a new back panel ? The stiching is deteriorated in several places all around the seat
Considering its age, the rest of the seat is in great condition.
