Ashida kids bike

I bought this little ashida bike to fix up for my granddaughter but having trouble finding anything about it. Main problem is with the drive system in the rear hub. It's a shimano hub so hoping that someone may have come across something like this before on a different bike that might could show me where to find parts

Looks like that was made to be a throw away--designed obsolescence! If possible lacing in a different hub may be a better option. V/r Shawn
