I live for the CABE
Surely we've got a thread already concerning signage, be it neon or no. Anyway, here's my local shop as a kid. Safety Cycle in Hollywood, Calif. (no such thing as CA) It was on the east side, Western Ave. just south of Santa Monica Blvd. No bikes allowed through the front door. Everything happened in the alley.
Of course, since this was neon, the wheels turned!
But being street urchins, we rarely bought much at this store due to lack of money. This is where we used to go. Way down there on the north side of Sunset Blvd. between the Texaco and the Catholic school (Hell on Earth) was the Pep Boys. Again, no bikes inside. We'd park in the alley and grab a deep swig from the water fountain that made your teeth hurt, bone up on the suicide knobs with the pictures of naked ladies, get chased out of that aisle, and buy our tires at a discount price!
